    All Good Things

    2010 - 02.28

The party is over and I’m going home to wash my hair. Besides feeling grimy, I am feeling sad that this is all over. I will miss dipping my paintbrush into my tea instead of sepia by mistake, and I will miss rushing to get the latest creative explosion out for all to enjoy then falling asleep fully clothed – ski hat, jacket and all. Thank you all for being a part of this amazing adventure. A very special Thanks to my sister Rori and Phyllis Kellar, who completely organized this amazing day. And of course, huge Thanks to my sons without whom I’d be lost in cyberspace forever. XOXO Susie!!

    Rock Pile

    2010 - 02.27

The Countdown!! Yikes! This is #38; Yesterday I went next door to visit a friend in a cabinet shop and he was throwing out this beautiful board. I had to grab it – the length reminded me of one of those wall water features that you see in someones entry. No water, but the rocks are there.

    Huddle Up

    2010 - 02.27

A friend brought in a piece of fabric last night that I found instantly inspiring . It was very challenging to keep up with the vision without overdoing it.

It’s was snowing last night and I was feeling a little exhausted though very happy. It was time to roll out the sleeping bag on the studio floor!

    Cuddle Up

    2010 - 02.26

When a Coyote trots through the snow he leaves marks from dragging his toes; I had one follow me the other morning very early when I was cross country skiing, he was beautiful.

    Horribly Beautiful

    2010 - 02.25

With every painting I learn how to look and see, and then look again. This painting was inspired by an image sent to me from Fire Chief Lieberman of a fire in southern California. I can only imagine the emotions if I came around a corner and saw this.

    Of Orchids and Abstract

    2010 - 02.24

This a large painting of Orchids on a deep magenta background that I’ve been working on every night for the last week; Orchids are so subtle yet so pronounced. I imagine it must be like a Conductor trying to bring an Orchestra together.

I’ve always been intimidated by doing Abstract; to seek the purest simplification of an idea. I got up the courage last night and came out with this “The Meeting Point.” It has a lot of texture and I’m personally very happy with it.

    Simply Water

    2010 - 02.23

I can’t wait to find the balance between simplicity and my busy imagination; a kind of visual version of complete satisfaction ? An abstraction of the Beginning and the End and everything inbetween ? What does that look like …. I can’t wait to paint this one 9 ft tall!

    Happy Elephant

    2010 - 02.22

I started the background of this painting with another theme in mind, when along came this little Elephant Ornament from India that was skipping to the tune of a Annie Lennox song… I couldn’t resist and went along with it.
